The Chase - Original Art

The Chase, 18" x 18" x 1.5", Oil and Cold Wax on Cradled Panel. Unframed.

Dramatic close to the series featuring South Steens Mustang - Spirit. He was being chased by the waterhole by a group of stallions who had one mare amongst their herd. Handsome Spirit made a few attempts to lure her in his direction, but the gang was having no part of it. Spirit did not end up successful in the end. 

This painting is a combination of Oil and Cold wax medium. The wax helped to create the dust stirred up in the event. The sides of the panel are painted the same midnight blue as the background. 

As a side note I did see photos of Spirit in the herd photos at Burns BLM facility. At the time of completing this painting I am unsure if he will be rereleased or adopted.
