First in the series from South Steens adventures, summer 2024. The highlight of this trip was a gorgeous pairing of an athletic, golden palomino and solid copper mare. Have a peek and read about my trip here on my Blog.

The efforts of my paintings aim to evoke the feeling of my memories from the moment in life which I encountered my subjects. This particular moment when the mustang pair stood in the distance to evaluate our approach. It was mid-morning, but was already heating up. The palomino just glowed in the sun. While I wanted to take photos, the horses were so spectacular, that I had to stop shooting just to watch them as well. It was evident they were very wild, because of the curiousity, and timidness they displayed. The palomino was not only, well muscled, but cute. I feel successful in capturing his expression. The painting has expressive brushstrokes with textures of juicy paint.
