I've Got Your Back - Original Art

I've Got Your Back, 11" x 14" oil and cold wax on panel, unframed. 

This is one of those paintings where the title arrived before the artwork was complete—a moment I always love. Inspired by my trip to see the Kiger Mustangs last summer, I found myself drawn to the quiet, stoic presence of the horse in the foreground. At first, I questioned the stillness of the composition. But as my eye moved to the second horse, peering attentively over the other's neck, the story revealed itself.

That simple gesture became the heart of the painting and gave rise to its title. One horse embodies calm, quiet strength, while the other stands watch—ready to respond, protect, or simply be present when needed. Together, they reflect the enduring nature of true friendship: one can rest knowing the other is always there.
