Featuring muse Spirit from the South Steens Mustang area, this painting is built through an intuitive, layered process that balances control with spontaneity. Playful passages are added, removed, and reworked, allowing traces of earlier decisions to remain visible. These marks and textures record the work’s evolving history, creating a surface that reflects both intention and discovery.

I seek a balance between structure and freedom, intention and surprise—much like the experience of finding and observing horses in the wild. A sense of joy runs through the painting, celebrating the exploration of horses, color, and emotion, and embracing the playful possibilities of abstraction.
