Special moment with instructor & friend Leslie Miller in Tubac Arizona
Any excuse I can get to go to Tubac Arizona I am on it! So when two of my works were juried into the 2023 Members Show, I decided to make a weekend of it. My husband's luggage didn't make it, so we were late arriving at opening night. Thankfully we caught artist and instructor Leslie Miller just before she was about to leave! I started the mixed media piece Antithesis in her workshop last spring. It only seemed fitting to show it in Tubac. Much to my surprise the painting was already sold at my arrival! YaY!
Yin and Yang, was also juried into the event
Two weeks after I got home from the event, I received an email saying that Yin & Yang, also found a home during the show. Yay again!
Oregon Society of Artists, 12 x 12 Art Show and Sale
I committed myself to work at showing my work locally this year. I've only exhibited once here in Portland since moving, which may sound crazy, but there was that Covid thing, life, and well, the fact I felt that Portland perhaps wasn't exactly the equine capital of the country 🤷♀️ ? I worked on three pieces for the Oregon Society of Artists annual 12 x 12 Art Show and Sale. Much to my surprise, one of my paintings inspired by Steens Mustang Stallion, Spirit, took 1st place out of over 200 paintings at this popular event. Wow, was I ever surprised this unassuming guy would steal the prize. I was also thrilled he found a home as well.
To show my diversity, I also submitted a mixed media piece, 'There's Things I Haven't Told You'. This work also found a home.
Spirit in Waterhole Blues IV, 12" x 12" oil on cradled panel
Waterhole Blues IV is the 3rd painting in the show and as of writing this post, the last remaining of my work available at the show. This is an affordable art event, all work is under $225.00, my work is at $195.00! If you are interested in this piece, please contact the show directly for purchase. Thank you! May this great trend continue into 2024. 😊
